Join VOCAL and the Marine Conservation Society to learn about biosecurity, and to help prepare European flat oysters to be reintroduced to the Firth of Forth!

As part of their Restoration Forth project, the Marine Conservation Society are moving these oysters from Loch Ryan (west coast of Scotland) to the Firth of Forth. Biosecurity is the process of moving the animals while preventing the spread of invasive species and disease, by removing any attached plants and animals (such as barnacles, sponge or seaweed).

This is a full-day event, including:

  • Tour of the oyster facilities
  • PPE (personal protective equipment) and other equipment provided
  • Practical biosecurity training
  • Scientific talks with the team
  • Tea breaks and refreshments provided, as well as a vegan lunch
